Our sweet William turned 5 on June 19th. It seems impossible to me that he is already that old. Where does time go? It seems like he should be the size of Charlie, not a little boy. He is becoming more independent every day. He likes to pick out his own clothes and get his own snack or drink. It is fun to listen to him talk with his friends or even strangers in a store. He loves to learn. One of his favorite activities is to work on activity books that have letter sounds or math pages. He also likes to color and draw. He enjoys playing outside, but not when it is too hot! He is learning to climb on the swingset to get from one side to the other without walking on the ground. He still likes to play ball but the obsession has faded from when he was younger (thankfully). His favorite foods are hamburger and pepperoni. Burt calls it the "caveman diet."
Even though we had his party before his birthday, we still wanted to do something special to celebrate that day. Papa and Gigi left to return to Ohio the morning of his birthday. Before they left they treated us to breakfast that Papa got from McDonald's and brought back to the house. After Charlie's nap, we loaded up and met Burt at McDonald's for a late lunch and to let the boys play on the indoor play set.
Will has always wanted a surprise party. To make his day special, we invited Miss Sarah and Miss Anna (our two favorite babysitters and close family friends) over for cupcakes. We didn't tell Will they were coming. They sent me a text when they got to the house and Burt had Will go back into our bedroom with him. After the girls got inside, Burt sent Will back into the living room where the girls and I were waiting to yell surprise. He was so excited! The boys played outside on Will's new slip & slide (his birthday gift from John) and we just had a fun, relaxing night. Here area few pictures of our big boy on his birthday.
