Tuesday was a very exciting day! Will turned 42 weeks old and took his first step! Burt had been out of town at a conference and got home Tuesday evening. Will was so excited to see him. He waved his arms, smiled and laughed when Burt walked in. He was also doing this happy scream. It was like he was trying to tell Burt that he was glad that he was home. They were playing on the floor and Will was standing by the couch. He turned around toward Burt and took off toward him. He took one step, then lost his balance and fell down. We were both shocked. We tried to get him to do it again, but he didn't. All night long I kept asking Burt "did he really take a step?" My baby can't be ready to walk! He is still doing great at standing on his own and is a pro at cruising around the furniture. Of course, he can also crawl very fast.
The other exciting part of the week is that Will is now sleeping through the night. YAY! He started last Tuesday. He will occasionally wake up early in the morning (around 5:00) for a bottle, but he will then go back to sleep for a couple of hours. Most nights he has been going to bed around 8:30 and sleeping until at least 7:00. It seems very strange (but nice) to not get up multiple times in the night. I am not sure why he is suddenly able to sleep without waking up to eat, but I am not complaining!
We have been enjoying the warmer spring weather (when it isn't raining). Will likes to go for walks in his stroller. He looks around and takes everything in. We also spent some time playing on a blanket on Monday. He seemed to enjoy the change of scenery. Of course, he also had fun trying to eat everything that he found on the ground! I think he is really going to enjoy playing outside this summer, especially in his little swimming pool.
Here are some pictures from the week. The first one is Will drinking from his sippy cup. I like that he is also playing with his foot. He loves his feet!
"Reading" the sales ad.
Enjoying the beautiful weather on Monday.
Our big boy... I think he looks so much older in his shorts.

Congrats on the first steps and the more sleep! I was thinking about you yesterday morning wondering how you were doing getting the little guy ready to go out.
I love the picture of him reading the sales papers. Those are Mike's favorite part of the Sunday paper, too!
We managed ok while Burt was gone. It seemed weird to have to take him to a sitter, but he did really well. The lady that watched him was great and even made me a sandwich to eat while driving Will home to meet our usual sitter. Isn't that sweet?
We are very glad to have Burt home, though!
Hey Will, any good deals at Target this week?
Heidi- Will wanted me to tell you that Target had diapers on sale this week. Always a happy week when diapers are on sale! Of course, we don't have a Target here, but we did get Walmart to match the price (do you all know about this?). We will keep you posted on the deals for next week.
Ooooh---I didn't know Will is a bargain shopper! He's my kind of baby!
I'm glad that everything went well on Tuesday. It sounds like you had a great sitter. I didn't know that having a baby could get me free sandwiches! Hmmmmm....
