John--38 to 40 weeks

John turned 38 weeks old on December 21st. The big news of the week is that he moved from the infant carseat/carrier to a big boy carseat. I took him to the fire station to have it installed on December 19th. He seems to enjoy the bigger seat and has a little more room to stretch out. He is still rear-facing, though. He will stay facing backwards until at least his first birthday. Here are a few pictures from the week.

This is his favorite ball to play with. He likes it because he can crawl while holding it since it is squishy. We call it the "Papa Gary ball" since Burt's mom and dad gave it to Will.

First time in big boy carseat.

He likes it!

On December 28, JJ turned 39 weeks old. We traveled to Tennessee to celebrate Christmas with my family on the 23rd. On the 27th, we traveled from Tennessee to Virginia to spend some time with Burt's family. On the 28th, JJ got to meet lots of extended family at a family breakfast for Burt's mom's family. He seemed to enjoy meeting the family!

While we were in Tennessee, John said his first word! He told Gi-gi "hi." Unfortunately, Burt and I were gone and didn't get to hear him. I did get to hear him say it later the same night. On the 28th, JJ said his second word. Any guesses what it was? If you know anything about his big brother, you won't be surprised that John's second word was "ball."

Visiting Santa!

JJ turned 40 weeks old on January 4th. By that time, we had returned back to Arkansas after much traveling for Christmas. We stopped to spend a night with Aunt Beth, Uncle Barry and Cousin Joey on the way home. John did great with all of the traveling and played with the family like he saw them all of the time.

On the 29th, we noticed that John was pulling up very easily on everything. Also, he is able to stand for a few seconds on his own. We also found two more teeth on the top on the 29th. They are the ones on each side of his middle two teeth. That makes 4 teeth on top and two on bottom. On the 31st, JJ said "da-da." He also said "bye-bye" on January 2nd. He said it to Mama Jan as we were getting ready to leave Virginia!
